Flowers At The Grave

For centuries it has been tradition to place flowers at the grave. Many people in different cultures and countries around the world partake in this form of 'honoring,' but what is the real meaning behind this tradition? There are and endless amount of answers that people may have for practicing this tradition of leaving flowers at the grave of their loved ones. It could be to honor the dead, or to let them know they have not been forgotten. When faced with death, I think that many people may think that the length of their grieving may directly indicate how much they cared or loved that person. This is certainly not true, but I believe that people may continue to cause themselves grief until they feel necessary. Leaving flowers and visiting the grave could be a way of keeping that person in their life, and letting them know they are not forgotten. I think that the belief that people decorate graves with flowers so that looks presentable and decent is a sign of respect and love for that person. Although, a person should not feel as though they do not care for the person if they do not bring flowers to the grave on a regular basis, or even at all. People have the right to express themselves towards a loved one after they have passed, in any way they feel comfortable.
